Sailing - Christopher Cross

Hello Readers,

Sailing by American singer-songwriter Christopher Cross is simply beautiful.

Have a listen.

My favourite parts of this song are the first half of the first verse and the instrumental breakdown.

"Well, it's not far down to paradise, at least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquillity
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see.
Believe me."

I hope that you find this song as inspiring as I do. I'm using the lyrics to get me ready for the start of a new term (Lent 2013).

Happy New Year 2013! Make it happen!

Dear readers,

Image and video hosting by TinyPicFirst of all let me take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year 2013!

How was 2012 for you?

I do hope that you start the new year as you mean to go on.

I tried something different this year. I spent the last day of 2012 working (in my new christmas temp role), running errands, catching up with friends and family, creating my goals for 2013 and listening to Napoleon Hill. Yes! I managed to do all of that in one day with a clear (read: sober) head the next morning. LOL.
Time is flying by but there is much to do in 24 hours.

If you have not done so already, I recommend that you reflect on 2012 and the things that you achieved during the past year. Reflection on the past is extremely important when wanting to be TOTT.
My best friend (as inspired by Deepak Chopra) views meditation as being another important method of reflection and dealing with challenges. The idea is to clear the mind to make space for future ideas.

2012 – Review of a fantastic and poignant year!

Dear Readers,

2012 is over! Can you believe it?

Apparently, the world was supposed to end on Friday 21st December 2012. I find it interesting that the media outlets (including reputable broadsheets) used scientific information to back up the prediction.
I read stories of people stocking up on food and spending life savings in preparation for the fateful day. I can admit that I briefly thought “what if it does happen” only to become distracted by preparations for my trip to London for the Christmas holidays.

Friday December 21st 2012 came and went by very quickly (well…it is the shortest day of the year in the Western Hemisphere ^_^).  On December 22nd the same 'fear-mongering' media outlets stated that the Mayan prediction had been misinterpreted and the prediction can now be described as the “end of an era” or “transition from one state to another”. LOL. Information! Information! Information! (see below)...

"Bad man nuh talk him just do"

Dear Readers,

Do not worry, this blog has not been hijacked by a patois speaking Jamaican lady. ^_^.

I remember being told this saying during my teenage years. I always thought to myself, why would anyone want to tell me this? I am not a bad man. LOL.

As I grew older, I discovered that the translated version of this saying is "Actions speak louder than words". In other words, if you think you are "bad" (bad being good) then go ahead and do it...

The Takers - Toxic friendships

Hello Readers,

I hope that you are well and succeeding in your TOTT goals.

Following my previous post about the lessons that I have learned during Michaelmas 2012, I would like to use this post to go into more detail about lesson two; Be upfront (to the correct people) about your goals and lesson 4; Be observant of behaviour. I do hope that you are able to gain something valuable from this post. I will be using fictitious scenarios.

Michaelmas 2012 is over – Lessons learned

Hello readers,

Yes it is true! Michaelmas 2012 is over.
This TOTTy is well and truly exhausted!

I must apologise for not blogging during the Michaelmas term but not even I (a Londoner who is used to a life in the fast lane) could have predicted that I would have no time to blog. Or perhaps I didn't use my time effectively.
The eight short and intense weeks of Michaelmas 2012 have flown by and to be perfectly honest with you, I am not sure where to. ^_^.
